The Ru’ya Twice a Day

The beautific vision of Allah ﷻ is the greatest reward. Here I will compile the hadith I have found on being given the ru’ya twice a day in Paradise, inshaAllah.

Book 40 of the Ihya (source)

Mujahid said, “The lowliest of Heaven’s people shall travel a thousand years in his kingdom, beholding its farthest parts just as he beholds its nearest, while the highest is him that shall gaze upon his Lord morning and night.” (Kitab Dhikr al-Mawt, p.249)

I first saw this here: https://muslimology.wordpress.com/2017/11/10/journey-of-the-muslim-the-smart-guide-to-jannah/

I later found this hadith’s original source via a general search: sharh al-Sunnah by Baghawi.

I later found a similar narration in Tirmidhi:

Thuwair narrated from Ibn Umar, saying:
The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: “Indeed the least of the people of Paradise in rank is the one who shall look at his gardens, his wives, his bounties, his servants and his beds for the distance of a thousand years, and the noblest of them with Allah is the one who shall look at His Face morning and night.” Then the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) recited: Some faces on that day shall be radiant. They shall be looking at their Lord.

There’s another, similar narration in the Musnad of Ahmad. The website states it has a very weak sanad. The matn:

My own hasty translation: “Indeed the lowest of Paradise’s rank is such that he gazes upon his kingdom a thousand years seeing its farthest like he sees its nearest, seeing his wives and his servants. And indeed the best of them in rank will certainly gaze upon the face of Allah Most High twice a day.”
